Reconing 419's with 414.

maybe, someone should try to join under a sudo-name and see if it is only a one time glitch? AB could delete the account if it isn't so?

This is a bad idea. Because if I did that, I would not tell anyone, then post and argue with myself.......

Cal the new validation step has been temporarily been disabled.So ask Hawaiiman to register now while he can.

Well, finally got the kits in the mail, but ooops no shims! Now what? Bill is shipping the kits with VC, cone, and spider pre-assembled. Nice! Anyone having re-coned 414s have shims? Emailed Bill, but that's problematic, apparently. Too far to call GPA, no local re-cone shops with English, or any Altec experience.

Just my .02 in lieu of a better, practical solution, the McGuyver in me would probably be reaching for the scissors and various thicknesses of suitable materials and "feeling" out the proper thickness. Too thick will force the coil/former out of round, too thin won't uniformly center the assembly.

It's not really rocket science, you're just looking for concentricity between the gap and former/coil.
